Having purchased a home built in 1954, we found our window support structure above and beyond code. With extra studs in place below each upstairs window, we were unable to install the ladder without cutting through a stud. We figured that wouldn't be a good idea! Read installation requirements carefully and check out your stud spacing before ordering the product. Great ladder, otherwise!

I love these. I bought them for my daughters bedroom windows as I have 4 daughters in 2 rooms on the 2nd floor. Installation was fairly easy, although it would have been nice if they were completely painted rather than just primed as that was the biggest hassle int he project. Once they were up we had the kids practice the emergency exit. I feel much safer knowing they can get out if the stairs were cut off in a fire. I would highly recommend this. Watch the product video!

Just installed this ladder. Very good quality ladder. The product demonstration videos are accurate and should speed up an escape dramatically along with it being safer than the regular chain ladders hooked over the window.
However, the installation manual is inaccurate. It states that the space between the studs is required to be between 14" and 14 1/2" wide in order to fit the ladder box. However, the metal ladder box is 14 1/4" wide and won't fit in a space any smaller. My space was exactly 14" wide - I had to cut off the side of the box in order to fit.
Make sure you are accurate with your measurements before buying.
